Jul 22, 2020 Cockney rhyming slang is a humorous twist on the English language and was first used in the 19th Century in the East End of London.

Up until the late 20th Century, rhyming slang was also common in Australian slang, probably due to the formative influence of Cockney as a dialect is most notable for its argot, or coded language, which was born out of ingenious rhyming slang.
